Mindfulness Training
You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
Jon Kabat-Zinn
Many professionals feel burned out for a whole host of reasons – increased responsibilities at work, seemingly constant organisational change, the growing need to “do more with less”, complex and demanding business relationships, and even the never-ending onslaught of technology. Lots of us live our lives in a state of what we might call ‘mindlessness’, a state where our attention is divided between so many things at once. Mindlessness is a state of mind where we aren’t really present in our own lives.
We work with busy people to help develop mindfulness (the opposite of mindlessness) and bring out more of their best at work and at home. Mindfulness training teaches individuals to be more present and to perceive the world more realistically. As a result, they can view situations more objectively. This allows people to react to situations with greater intention, as they can respond based on a dispassionate evaluation of the issue at hand, instead of based on preconceived notions or knee-jerk emotional reactions. Mindfulness puts people in charge of their minds, attention and thoughts, which in turn leads to some wide-ranging advantages; research tells us that mindfulness is a trainable skill, with the following benefits for organisations as well as individuals:
- Better focus and concentration
- Reduced anxiety and increased resilience
- Improved problem solving and creativity
- Greater levels of job satisfaction
- Higher job performance
- Lower levels of work-related stress
- Decreased psychological distress
- Better communication and listening skills
- More clarity, peace of mind and emotional balance
- Stronger immune system health
“Even if you just use mindfulness to develop the capacity to pause between stimulus and response, you’ll be making the difference between simply working and working brilliantly with your best self.”
Justin Standfield
We’ve created mindfulness programmes that combine Positive Psychology principles with key elements of the well-known Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course. Because Incendo’s aim is to support people to become self-sufficient mindfulness practitioners, our programmes include handouts, self-reflection exercises, mindfulness diaries and audio recordings of our guided mindfulness meditations.
We can deliver a range of mindfulness activities tailored to meet the needs of your organisation. This could include anything from:
- One off workshops or seminars
- Courses (typically up to 8 weeks)
- Drop-in or taster sessions
- 1:1 work with senior managers, directors and CEOs
