It was a pleasure to attend the recent Connect London event and meet so many like-minded people development professionals doing great work in their organisations. As always with Richard Chase’s events, there was a genuine buzz in the room and this prompted a diverse range of quality conversations, many of which continued beyond the event’s official finish time. If we didn’t get a chance to talk, please get in touch and I’ll drop you a line.
I also appreciated the opportunity to give my talk, It’s Time to Tell the Truth About Mindfulness (a copy of my slides can be downloaded by clicking on the title slide below).
As you know from the talk, I believe that the application of mindfulness in corporate settings can bring about a range of benefits for the individual, the business and its customers. I also realise that HR/L&D professionals sometimes encounter obstacles when introducing the subject to their organisations, which is why Incendo has developed a range of business-friendly programmes that integrate mindfulness with topics such as leadership, resilience, authenticity and coaching – as well as offering the world-renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8-week programme.
My belief in the effectiveness of mindfulness is unwavering and it’s an area that continues to fascinate me as I explore integrating it further with approaches like Positive Psychology and OD interventions. However, we do so much more at Incendo besides mindfulness!
We work with Heads of HR/L&D who’ve seen leaders with skills gaps returning from previous development programmes with no more self-awareness and unchanged behaviours; Incendo is on a mission to eradicate irrelevant training from the workplace.
We develop managers who’ve been promoted by virtue of their technical expertise, so that they can become proficient in leading with greater emotional intelligence.
We transform teams that have undertaken team development in the past but who’ve never committed to any real change that has been sustainable when they’re back at their desks.
We partner with people who are responsible for corporate coaching and mentoring schemes who need to ensure that their coaches and mentors are continually developing and motivated to fulfil the demands of the role.
We collaborate with people development professionals who need a trusted external OD consultant to challenge their senior management population with professionalism, competence and humour, in settings like group coaching and action learning sets.
If you have responsibility for developing others within your role, then you’re familiar with some of the challenges of making the most of your people development budget whilst expanding the range of skills within key staff groups in your organisation. It can be tempting to opt for off-the-shelf training courses as they often appear to be an immediate, convenient solution. But here’s the thing – a completely off-the-shelf approach isn’t the most effective way to engage your people, enable them to learn and deliver lasting change for your business. Your return on investment is always greater when development is specifically aligned to your organisation – your culture is unique, your people are unique and your challenges are unique. Therefore, Incendo tailors the material in our courses and workshops for each client to take account of their uniqueness.
The range of Incendo development programmes that can be personalised to your organisation are shown in our downloadable Incendo Directory of Core Learning Programmes 2019. If you have a specific requirement in mind, please contact us to have a no-obligation conversation about what you’re looking for – we’d love to hear from you.
All the best,
